I usually just press copy and then I paste from wherever I was...

Ooops!  That's actually a quick form of "hotlinking."

Most websites will let you get away with it -- but some won't.  That's why (occasionally) some of your pictures don't show up.

Some websites will block that kind of activity -- and what can happen then is that the picture will show up on YOUR screen -- because the photo is actually coming from your computer (stored in an area known as the "cache" -- maybe you've heard of that word).  But it won't show up on anyone else's computer.  Because the website that "hosts" the picture is blocking it from being used anywhere else.

It doesn't happen often -- but it does occur.   I do that myself when I'm feeling lazy ... until someone like Denis sends me a PM to tell me the graphic (photo or image) isn't showing up.  Then I have to go fix it.

In short, that kind of thing is a questionable practice.

Anyways ... don't worry if you don't understand what I wrote above.  It just computer gibberish.

I don't know if you get how the photo thing works, Lyn, but I'll try to explain...

For any photo to be displayed on any website (including this one) it has to be "hosted" someplace. Someplace other than your computer. In other words, the photo (or image) has to be uploaded to a website like photobucket.  (an image host website -- there are lots of them -- mostly free).

In short, your picture has to be sent from your computer to someplace else -- a website -- from which you can THEN retrieve it and insert it into a post in here.

For convenience, Yuku (this website) has it's own image hosting area. And everyone with a Yuku username has at their disposal nearly unlimited photo storage. (Which can be set as private -- so only you can see what you put in there -- until you want to display it).

To access that area, just click "images" at the top of your computer screen.  That link will take you to an area in your own "profile" where you can create any number of folders -- and put in any kind of pictures (or images or emoticons or whatever) in any given folder.

For example, I've got an folder labelled "Bugaboos" -- which has nothing but pictures I took in Canada a few years back. Or "cartoons" -- which I use occasionally. Or emoticons (which I use a LOT 0b836bea11dbb2bf2e09ae7f60c9155c3282f28e )

It's REALLY easy.  Easier than photobucket.

And once you figure that part out, we can show you how to insert those photos into a post.  Which is even easier than uploading them.
