Great ideas, thanks, but while adult education courses are available in many cities and towns in America, I live in a very small town and there would not be enough participants to make the adult education courses worthwhile to conduct. I couldn't stand to work at an animal shelter. The one here is low-kill but I would want to take all the cats home with me. The university here is private and expensive so taking one course would be close to $1000 when it was all said and done. Not worth it since I already have a degree and another type of degree as well.
I did leave out the cost- I still owe a lot of money in  trying to education myself or more trying to get out of dead end jobs. smiley: embarassed Then when my health took a dive, no choice but to get out of manual laboring  job-lets call them.

Now if ended with a degree. I would be happy as would open more job opportunities.

But over time, seems a trend here, not many ended up in the jobs, in which there degrees where based. Few I know with art degrees, ended up in social work.

Pity about the adult educations classes, as they can be a lot of fun, little cost. They always made payment arrangements for people like me. smiley: wink

Totally agree about the animal shelters but gave it a go at one time. Ever so glad to read your cats have settled down but I would be running from any other see in the streets. You will end up with a cat shelter.

Long shot but when lived further into the bush- do not laugh.  I did join in with the local community ladies, knitted stuff for different charities, maybe was when tried making a quilt  and sewing. Oooh and jam/cakes for the fund raising stalls..

Look around you may find something to do in your small community, just a way in small towns to get to know each other, make some friends. Sports is  of course is another way to get out there and meet people. Many off my agenda as with health issues now. smiley: frown Miss that side.

Good on yah Lynnears- sorry about the knees though.Something like a knee/compression bandage or the like may help or some type of massage therapy? My good old Mum had some wonderful alcohol based massage ointments she would use and all the ladies in her bowling club. They swore by them.
