Lilly:

Which is it, Sedgie -- did you put the posts up to push the envelope, or did you put them up to generate activity?

I take a little more benign view on this kind of thing.

And I suspect "mixed intent" ... and I'm not sure that those ideas are mutually exclusive.

"Pushing the envelope" (does everyone know the origin and history of that expression?) will almost inevitably "generate activity."

During my sojurn at the Grey Havens, I deliberately "pushed the envelope."  For me it's almost instinctive (Reph never came close to understanding me ... but that's another thing).  Ultimately got the chop for it. (which is ok -- I kinda knew I didn't really belong there).

But that kind of thing is a little hard to do around here. Cause the boundaries of our "envelope" aren't fixed.

So it's hard to know when anyone has crossed the line.

Actually, I admire the way Sedgie hangs it all out there.  Trying to generate interest with a whole variety of stuff -- knowing that two-thirds of what goes up won't generate any response.

I wouldn't/couldn't do it.  (take a look at how many threads I've started in the last ... whatever).  Maybe because I don't deal real well with (perceived) rejection.

And that kinda thing is gonna inevitably wander into some questionable turf and pull a boner on occasion.

One persons fascination (mine, for example)...

Is another persons barf-bag (a bunch of other people).

It's to be expected.

Nice little hackle farm you've got there. Be a shame if anything happened to it.
